The EDDY Awards, an annual event to celebrate Duval County's leading teachers, is a time-honored tradition that has grown into its new mission to elevate the role of Jacksonville's best teachers.
The EDDY Awards is a venture of the Jacksonville Public Education Fund, and it has evolved beyond an awards ceremony to build a network of exemplary teachers who are leaders in the community and who work to improve our schools, student performance and the teaching profession.
2017 Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year
Andrew Robinson Elementary
In early Fall, Jacksonville Public Education Fund reaches out to all public and charter schools, encouraging principals to nominate a teacher to represent his or her school as the School-Based Teacher of the Year.
School-Based Teachers of the Year are invited to complete an application packet to compete for the Duval County Teacher of the Year Award that is presented at the annual Teacher of the Year EDDY Awards Gala scheduled for February 2, 2018.
The applications are reviewed by volunteer area selection committees that can include any combination of community members such as representatives from Duval County Public Schools (DCPS), Duval Teachers United (DTU), Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as well as other teachers, business partners and/or community leaders. Area selection committees select the 15 semifinalists, and a finalist selection committee determines the 5 finalists and the winner who will represent Duval County as the Teacher of the Year and continue on to compete against other Florida county winners for the Florida Department of Education - Macy's Florida Teacher of the Year Award.
