PowerUP Jax is an initiative of the Jacksonville Public Education Fund. It’s a $500 competitive grant to fund innovative projects to raise student achievement. Lead sponsor Community First Cares Foundation believes in seeding innovation and rewarding creativity among public school teachers — so they’re funding 20 projects

We’re excited to have the “Lightning Round” contest that will provide an extra $150 to the winning grant applicant with the most votes by community members. All of the grant winners will be entered into the running for the $1,000 Community First Innovation Prize.

Voting for your favorite project is open through November 1!

Applications for the 2016 PowerUP Jax cycle are now closed. Please check back in Fall of 2017!

On February 23, The Community First Cares Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Community First Credit Union, announces the recipient of the Community First Innovation Prize honoring creativity and innovation in classroom instruction in Duval County. Riley Krotz, a science teacher at Duncan U. Fletcher Middle School, was honored with the Innovation Prize at the Jacksonville Public Education Fund’s 25th Annual EDDY Awards held at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront on Saturday, March 12.
