As ONE by ONE makes its way throughout the Jacksonville community, we here at JPEF knew that we would have to spread the word in many different ways.
That's why every month, just as the campaign begins to transition to a new neighborhood, our amazing ONE by ONE volunteers join together to spread the word in the most personal way: Canvassing door-to-door.
Although our digital world lets us communicate in ways we once never dreamed would be possible, electronic communication does not reach everyone. And even when it does, there is no substitute for face-to-face conversation - hence the reason we call this ONE by ONE.
If anything, that person-to-person interaction is all the more important. Just as the ONE by ONE conversations involve a small group of people talking about what matters to our community, these canvassing days involve taking to the streets, knocking on doors and talking to residents about public education.
We've had great success in our first two events, at the Beaches area and the Northside. And our volunteers have made that possible, taking their enthusiasm about ONE by ONE to complete strangers. What we've found: Many people are eager to talk about what our community needs to do to improve our public schools.
