Dr. Sylvia Mitchell applied with 24 years of experience in education. She is a Florida native, hailing from Leon County. She’s served in various roles such as superintendent of schools and assistant superintendent of Promise Community School, and vice president of IDEA Public Schools in Tampa Bay. She’s also served as an executive leadership coach and campus-based administrator for elementary and middle schools. She graduated from Capella University, Walden University, and Florida A&M University. Mitchell said she has a focus on school transformation, leadership development, executive coaching and strategic planning.

“I have a strong desire to return to the great state of Florida and serve the community where I have deep roots. I am deeply committed to making a positive impact on the lives of students and families in Duval County and am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the continued success and growth of Duval County Schools,” she said.
