2013-2014 Florida Teacher Evaluation Data Released

On Wednesday, the Florida Department of Education released preliminary results of the 2013-2014 teacher evaluation data. The results were posted online and included evaluation information for classroom teachers, non-classroom teachers and school administrators. The results below describe those released for classroom teachers across the state.

Looking into the Results
The results below are based on the Florida Department of Education's data released on Wednesday. Duval County Public Schools has also released their own preliminary teacher evaluation results, which vary slightly from those released by the state. To look into the results released by Duval County Public Schools, click here.
For purposes of comparison, the district level classroom teacher evaluation results below are compared to those of the other six large urban districts across the state of Florida, which include Broward, Miami Dade, Hillsborough, Orange, Palm Beach, and Pinellas counties.
Among the "Big 7" urban school districts, Duval was 6th in the percent of "highly effective" teachers based on the 2013-2014 evaluation results, ahead of only Broward County.

The data released by the state presents the teacher evaluation data at the school level as well. Here is a snapshot of how the schools in Duval County are performing.
DCPS Schools with Highest Percent of Highly Effective Teachers in 2014
- Rutledge H. Pearson Elementary School (70.4%) (19 of 27 teachers evaluated)
- San Pablo Elementary School (65.9%) (27 of 41 teachers evaluated)
- Stanton College Preparatory (56.2%) (50 of 89 teachers evaluated)
DCPS Schools with Highest Percent of Highly Effective Teachers in 2013
- Rutledge H. Pearson Elementary School (88.5%) (23 of 26 teachers evaluated)
- School of Success Academy (50%) (5 of 10 teachers evaluated) *Note: 44.4% of teachers were not evaluated at School of Success Academy in 2013.
- Chet's Creek Elementary School (41.2%) (35 of 85 teachers evaluated)
Changes in Percent of Highly Effective Teachers in DCPS schools between 2013 and 2014
- 93 schools had the percent of "Highly Effective" teachers increase
- 24 schools had the percent of "Highly Effective" teachers remain the same (20 schools had 0% of teachers rated "Highly Effective" during both years)
- 45 schools had the percent of "Highly Effective" teachers decrease
DCPS Schools with Largest Gains in Percent of Highly Effective Teachers (2013 to 2014)
- Mandarin Oaks Elementary School (+37% rated Highly Effective, 16% in 2013 to 53% in 2014)
- San Pablo Elementary School (+ 31.6% rated Highly Effective, 34.3% in 2013 to 65.9% in 2014)
- West Riverside Elementary School (+28.2% rated Highly Effective, 11.1% in 2013 to 39.3% in 2014)
