2013 FCAT 2.0 Results: 3rd Grade Reading & Math, all grades Writing

The Florida Department of Education released the first round of 2013 FCAT 2.0 results today, including results for third grade reading and math, fourth grade writing, eighth grade writing and tenth grade writing. In each section below you will find highlights and summary tables for how Duval County and Florida students performed this year compared to last.

 

Third Grade Reading and Math (Districtwide): 

  • The percentage of DCPS third graders reading at grade level or above in 2013 (55 percent) rose 4 percentage points from 2012 (51 percent).
  • The percentage of DCPS third graders performing at grade level or above in Math in 2013 (56 percent) remained the same as 2012 (56 percent).
  • The percentage of DCPS third graders reading at or above grade level in 2013 (55 percent) was 2 percentage points lower than the statewide average (57 percent)
  • The percentage of DCPS third graders performing at or above in Math in 2013 (56 percent) was 2 percentage points lower than the statewide average (58 percent)

Fourth, eighth and Tenth Grade Writing (districtwide):  

  • The standard score for measuring writing achievement in 2012 was 3.0 or above. In 2013 the standard was raised to 3.5, so comparisons between 2012 and 2013 should be considered by comparing equal score levels.
  • The percentage of DCPS fourth graders writing at level 3.5 or above in 2013 (54 percent) rose 12 percentage points from 2012 (42 percent).
  • The percentage of DCPS eighth graders writing at level 3.5 or above in 2013 (53 percent) rose 3 percentage points from 2012 (50 percent).
  • The percentage of DCPS 10th graders writing at level 3.5 or above in 2013 (68 percent) rose 5 percentage points from 2012 (63 percent).
