Chat with the Supe, another opportunity for community engagement

10/21/2015

“Chats with the Supe” is a new initiative of the school district to engage in an informal conversation with our Duval County Public Schools Superintendent. With Dr. Nikolai Vitti approaching his three year anniversary on the job in November, these informal conversations are an opportunity for the general public and those who support public education to discuss key issues.

Last week at the first chat, more than 40 people gathered at Barnes & Noble at the St. Johns Town Center to talk to Dr. Vitti. Students, parents, teachers and community leaders attended the meeting with lots of questions. From technology issues, concerns about the number of students in a classroom, questions about the new Florida Standards to Focus (the new student data portal) and the issue of teacher training, participants took advantage of this opportunity to voice their questions and concerns.
