High school grades improve

1/4/2012
2011 School Grades for High Schools were published this morning on the state DOE website (http://schoolgrades.fldoe.org/).  Our Data & Policy Director, Jason Rose, summarized a few key points of interest about this year's results.
·      There were 3 "A", 6 "B", 8 "C", 2 "D" and 1 "F" high schools in Duval County.
·      7 high schools remained the same letter grade as last year.
·      8 schools improved 1 or more letter grade from last year, including Frank H. Peterson Academies which improved 3 letter grades from a "D" in 2010 to an "A" in 2011.  A. Philip Randolph Academies, Robert E. Lee High School and Terry Parker High School each improved by 2 letter grades.
·      4 schools worsened 1 letter grade from last year, including Andrew Jackson High School, which went from a "D" in 2010 to an "F" in 2011 (the only "F" high school in Duval County this year).
·      At the Intervene high schools, A. Philip Randolph Academies, Jean Ribault High School, and Nathan B. Forrest High School all improved by one or more letter grade to be "C" schools in 2011.  William Raines High School and Edward White High School both remained unchanged as "D" schools.  Andrew Jackson High School was the only Intervene school to slide backward, going from a "D" to an "F" school in 2011.

It is important to note that the above grades reflect each school's overall school grade (FCAT component + High School Component), however for the Intervene schools their Differentiated Accountability status will be judged solely on the FCAT component of their grade.  Below is a summary of how each Intervene school changed on both components:
