How you can help those still recovering from Hurricane Irma

Jacksonville citizens demonstrated a true heart for service and a determination to see our most affected communities restored after the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. More than $2 million in resources to support Hurricane Irma recovery efforts were pledged through Florida’s First Coast Relief Fund. And fortunately, Duval County Public Schools was able to resume instruction early last week in safe school buildings for our children. For these efforts, Jacksonville Public Education Fund wants to sincerely thank everyone who lent a helping hand.

The devastation caused by natural disasters like Hurricane Irma is unexpected and can be overwhelming for students and their families, as well as the educators who serve them throughout the school year. As Jacksonville was hit by record-setting flooding from Hurricane Irma, many homes, schools, businesses and community centers experienced significant damage, thousands of our neighbors were without power for days while JEA worked relentlessly to restore it.
