Join us live online on Saturday for the ONE by ONE Community Agreement Convention!

1/3/2013

People Talking StripIt's the day we've all been waiting for: This Saturday, January 5 is a culmination of the ONE by ONE campaign, which kicked off in the fall of 2011.

After 169 "kitchen table" conversations that happened all over Duval County, YOUR voice has been heard! You nominated more than 100 diverse community delegates to the Community Agreement Convention at the Downtown Library, where they will gather to finalize the priorities that emerged from the conversations.

Using the conversation data, these delegates, who represent a diverse array of neighborhoods and stakeholder groups, will vote on the top three to four priorities for public education.

These priorities will then be submitted Duval County Public Schools for inclusion in its strategic plan, and members of the public will be asked to ratify the agreement. On Saturday, the delegates will also brainstorm ways the community can help make these priorities real, and pledge specific roles they will play.

Superintendent Nikolai Vitti and School Board Vice Chair Becki Couch will be in attendance, as well as many other current and former school board members, representatives of education-focused organizations and community and grassroots leaders.

We want YOU to join in the events online! We'll be live-blogging the event online right here at jaxpef.org, posting quotes, photos and other news from the convention. Plus, we'll be taking your questions and adding your input as the day goes on. Join us starting at 8:30 a.m. and drop in throughout the day until our close at 3:30 p.m.

If you haven't yet, check out the top themes identified in the conversations in this briefing paper!
