Kids can't vote — but you can!

Jacksonville, Fla., July 18 - A coalition of nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations today announced activities to educate voters ahead of the 2014 Duval County School Board elections.
The School Board 2014 Coalition is led by the Jacksonville Public Education Fund and includes 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, Beaches Watch, Concerned Citizens in Support of Education, Duval County Council of PTAs, Jacksonville Kids Coalition, Jacksonville Urban League, JCCI, Junior League of Jacksonville, League of Women Voters of Jacksonville First Coast, NAACP Jacksonville Branch, National Panhellenic Council, Northside Love, Omega Phi Psi Fraternity, Teen Leaders of America, The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, United Way of Northeast Florida, War on Poverty - Florida, and WJCT.
The coalition's goal is to promote increased participation in this year's school board elections and educate citizens about the choices before them. The coalition shares a belief that it is critical that the broader community learn about school board candidates so that they can make informed decisions. All of the organizations are nonpartisan and have signed a pledge not to support or endorse any specific candidate.
Coalition activities include forums, a questionnaire, a special website (www.schoolboard2014.org) and other outreach. Candidate responses to the questionnaire issued by the coalition have been posted to www.schoolboard2014.org.
Forums in District 2 and District 4 will take place in early August:
· District 2 - 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday August 7 at Fletcher High School
· District 4 - 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 12 at Ribault High School
The forums will be live-tweeted using #SchoolBoard2014 and live-streamed on www.schoolboard2014.org.
