Mayor's Education Summit focuses on Family and Caregiver Involvement

2/15/2013

Momentum keeps building for Jacksonville's movement for public schools!

On February 28 - March 1, Mayor Alvin Brown will partner with Superintendent Nikolai Vitti to focus on strengthening parent involvement in student success - a direct connection to the ONE by ONE Community Agreement priority of Family and Caregiver Involvement.

Day 1 will feature actor and education activist Dr. Bill Cosby who will make school visits, presentations to community leaders and give a performance for the entire community at the Times-Union Center (tickets start at $21).

Day 2 will be a full-day conference at the Jacksonville Public Library Main/Downtown Branch, open to the public, focusing on community and stakeholder visioning about ways to increase involvement in our public schools. Dr. Vitti's Parent Academy model will be introduced for discussion and feedback.

Learn more about the event at the City of Jacksonville website.

This is a great opportunity for the ONE by ONE delegates, conversation participants and broader community to come to the table with community leaders to address this vital issue.

Register soon at www.coj.net/edsummit as space will be limited!
