About Scott Sowell

Scott Sowell, a proud graduate of Duval County Public Schools, has worked in science education for 20 years, and is currently a science teacher at Darnell-Cookman Middle-High School. Scott has worked at the elementary, secondary, and college level, with a focus on increasing science literacy, maximizing students’ understanding of the nature of science, as well as researching issues of equity within science education. Since being selected as the 2012 Duval County Teacher of the Year, Scott has also been involved in developing local teacher leaders and several professional development projects, such as the annual TEACH Conference.

In Scott's words...

I am very excited about being part of all the different JPEF projects that are focusing on developing and empowering teacher leaders in Duval County!

I move public education forward by championing the voices of our great local teachers!
