New Year, New Discoveries

1/3/2014

It's a new year and we're all making new resolutions to change our perspectives about different community issues and life matters. With every new resolution, there's bound to be new discoveries as well.

Be More Active.

You can become more active by walking through the halls of one of our Duval County public schools.

Discover Duval Schools is a wonderful opportunity for community members to explore what different public school's are doing in the classrooms. Each month, community members gather for a bus ride and an exclusive, engaging tour of different public schools. At the end of each tour, community members are provided with volunteer opportunities to become more engaged with the school, students and principal.

Come learn more about what our Duval County public schools are doing by having a first-hand experience. Sign up today!

Support innovation in local classrooms!

Want to give back to your alumni high school or your child's school? You can support local public schools, teachers and students by promoting innovation in classrooms through PowerUP Jax.

PowerUP Jax is a local crowdfunding initiative for Duval County Public School teachers. Your small donation can give teachers and students to do big things in the classroom. And right now, the Community First Cares Foundation is matching funds dollar for dollar up to $5,000! Projects range from literacy to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among other subject areas, and 100% of every tax-deductible donation is goes directly into the classroom.

Give back in the new year to a school or subject that you care about today. Start here!

Be the Change.

Join our organization in putting the public back in public education. We have volunteer opportunities for community members to become change agents as education advocates and supporters. More than 200 community delegates will come together on January 18 for the Second Annual ONE by ONE Convention to discuss the progress of public education and make collective and personal commitments for action.

If you've missed the opportunity to become a delegate, you can still take part in the Second Annual ONE by ONE Convention. As a volunteer, you'll be able to network with community members and leaders and experience this exciting day.
