On Tuesday, the Duval County School Board appointed Deputy Superintendent Dr. Dana Kriznar to serve as interim superintendent while the board conducts a search for the new superintendent. Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene will be leaving office June 2 and officially retiring on July 24.

Dr. Kriznar, who has been with DCPS more than 30 years, was appointed deputy superintendent in 2019.

At the board meeting Tuesday, board member Darryl Willie said, “I wholeheartedly believe she is the person we need in this moment.”

Board Chair Dr. Kelly Coker noted the board will hold a workshop in June where they will discuss the characteristics they are looking for in a new school superintendent.

“We congratulate Dr. Kriznar on her appointment,” said JPEF President Rachael Tutwiler Fortune. “With her extensive education background and experience within our district, she will offer much-needed continuity to keep the district moving in a positive direction. We look forward to working with her in this new role.”
