Nearly 90 people gathered at Edward Waters College Monday night for the first community meeting to learn more about Common Core State Standards.

Robyn White, elementary literacy specialist and 2013 finalist for Duval County Teacher of the Year, presented an overview of the standards.

Then, a passionate and informed panel took questions about the implications of the standards and how they will benefit students in our schools. The panel included Dr. Vitti of Duval County Public Schools, Gretechen Lynch of the Duval County Council of PTAs, Edward Waters College Education Chair Dr. Marie Snow and student Antonio Gansley-Ortiz.
