The Jacksonville Public Education Fund Receives a $30,000 Grant from Truist for COVID-19 Relief Efforts

4/21/2020

JACKSONVILLE, FL, APRIL 21, 2020 – The Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF) today announced it received a $30,000 grant from Truist Financial Corporation to support public school teachers during the coronavirus pandemic and shift to home learning.

The grant is part of the financial services company’s Truist Cares initiative, a $25 million philanthropic pledge announced in March to support basic needs, medical supplies and financial hardship relief due to COVID-19. JPEF will support teachers who have lost income due to the crisis and offer professional learning opportunities to teachers, as they require new skills to adapt to teaching students virtually.

“The Jacksonville Public Education Fund is so grateful to Truist for their support of public education in Duval County,” said JPEF President Rachael Tutwiler Fortune. “Our public school teachers have stepped up in a serious way for our students, so we are proud to step up alongside them in these difficult times.”

“As education has shifted to an online learning environment, the Jacksonville Public Education Fund is supporting teachers who have been impacted by COVID-19,” said Scott Keith, North Florida regional president for Truist. “We are pleased to support this effort, which aligns closely with our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”
