Primary election results are in! Jones elected in District 5; Hershey and Toscano to face off in November

The 2016 primary election results are in for Duval County! Among the many prominent local races, residents of Jacksonville were also able to cast their ballot for School Board representatives in District 5 and District 7. The Duval County School Board is a crucial group of elected officials that have a big impact on the direction of our city.

The school board is the official policy-making body for all education-related issues in Duval County Public Schools, and they lay the foundation on which we can build to keep our city on track to providing quality education and supplying our workforce with quality employees.

Warren Jones has been elected to represent District 5 at the Duval County School Board. Jones currently serves on the JEA, Visit Jacksonville and Gateway Community Services boards. He has 28 years of experience serving as an elected official. In District 7, Lori Hershey and Barbara Toscano will continue to a runoff election in November.

Jacksonville native Lori Harrell Hershey is a successful businesswoman, mother of four, award- winning writer and educator. She has been an active Duval County Public School volunteer and parent for more than two decades. You can learn more about Lori and her priorities for District 7 here.

Toscano is a talented educator with diverse experience in teaching, educational research and curriculum writing and understands a rigorous school system is imperative to community success. Toscano outlines her priorities for District 7 here in her responses to our questionnaire.
