Dr. Carlos Perez is another returning candidate. He applied for the job in the 2018 search. He is currently the executive director of the Education Reform Project, an education nonprofit startup in Miami Beach. He also served as Director of School Quality in New York. Perez would come to DCPS with over 25 years of educational experience. He’s served in several roles from an adjunct professor at the Florida Atlantic University to a high school and middle school principal in New York. He graduated from Northeastern University, Stony Brook University, Hofstra University and Long Island University.

“I am enthusiastic and prepared to contribute my knowledge to your district. With experience supervising teachers, staff development and team building, I have begun the process of exceeding faculty goals through effective internal and external communication,” Perez said.
