Public Ed Ambassador: “Our area is on the verge of achieving something truly great.”

Clayton Levins is the Community Relations Coordinator at Jacksonville University and believes that “the Jacksonville Public Education Fund is at the forefront of creating positive, impactful change in the Jacksonville Community. When we work together, we can create positive change in every corner of our community. As I have visited schools and talked to local students, teachers and parents over the past few months, I have received many inquiries about how to engage with the Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF) in ways that are meaningful, purposeful and work toward a concrete goal.

Florida Dept. of Ed seeks public comment - have your voice heard!

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) is seeking public comment on the draft plan they have developed for implementing the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) that was signed into policy Dec. 2015. Having our voices heard on this particular policy is a matter of  taking care of and investing in our region’s greatest assets: our children.

ONE by ONE: Students at the center of decision-making conversations

Giving students a strong start in life gives our city a strong start toward becoming all that it can be. We will be hosting our annual ONE by ONE Convention: Students at the Center of the ConversationSaturday, May 6. This year, Convention will focus on the culmination of the work we have been doing around Student Voice and the importance of placing students at the center of school improvement strategies and policy discussions.

On a cold, crisp, and clear Saturday morning, the Jacksonville Public Education Fund hosted our third and final ONE by ONE: Student Voice event. The past two events left all of us inspired, challenged and motivated to continue to elevate student voices to inform the work of supporting a high quality public education system. Many districts in our country, including Duval County, are starting to use student voice to help shape their programs. Jacksonville’s students truly deserve to continue to be heard in the same way.

Jacksonville Public Education Fund presents at Jacksonville Young Democrats’ education roundtable event

Jacksonville Public Education Fund, along with several other organizations, spoke at the roundtable hosted by Jacksonville Young Democrats focused on education reform and collective action. Our community is coming together to make improvements for all people in our city and help keep Jacksonville on track to becoming the great city we know it can be!

Ed White committed to implementing student suggestions in school

Jacksonville Public Education Fund welcomes Kristellys Estanga to our team! She will be working with our Community Mobilization team to facilitate the implementation of programs in selected schools that are being developed around the specific suggestions and insights from students during the Student Voice events.
