David R. Voss has been communicating with the public about education and children’s causes for the past 40 years. He recently retired as president of Voss & Associates, a public relations and marketing company with its heart in education, although he continues to consult with schools and districts on a volunteer basis. For the past 26 years, Voss & Associates helped schools manage crisis communications and social media, pass referendums, develop Strategic Communication Plans, and learn essential skills for building public support.

David previously served as Director of Communications for the Florida Department of Education, as the Governor and Commissioner of Education’s Press Secretary, and as Director of Marketing for Apple Computer's Education Division. He is a long-time member of the National School Public Relations Association, winning numerous awards there, and serves as board member emeritus of the Sunshine School Public Relations Association. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Mississippi State University, where he earned 4 letters in baseball.  He is the father of DCPS teacher Cammie Gavagan and loves spending time with his two grandchildren.
