Mary Goldsmith serves as the National Director for Business Development and Government Relations for RSM’s government services industry. She has spent the past 13 years leading these efforts both federally and in numerous states including Florida. Client development, satisfaction and retention are hallmarks of Mary’s career. She is instrumental in developing strategic goals and objectives for the firm’s clients. Her industry focus areas include affordable housing, telecom, economic development, transportation, and health and human services. Federal and state grant program administration has been one of the primary focus areas of our legislative and policy agendas.
Mary serves as an in-house lobbyist with the goal of enhancing public policy and required appropriations that correlate with the firm’s strategic initiatives—as well as directing the firm’s numerous contract lobby teams to ensure the right vision and goals are achieved at the federal and state levels. Identifying and collaborating with strategic teaming partners is a critical aspect of her role. Mary is a prolific fundraiser and successfully secured numerous grants and charitable contributions for the many nonprofits with whom she has partnered. She currently holds a position on the Board of Directors for KIPP Jacksonville and serves as the Co-chair for EdTalks 2025, an initiative led by the Jacksonville Public Education Fund.
Prior to joining RSM in 2011, Mary worked in the Florida Legislative Process for both House and Senate members, including for the chair of Transportation & Economic Development Appropriations. She parlayed that experience into her first job in Washington in a legislative affairs role with the Mortgage Bankers Association and later functioned in a sales and lobbying capacity in Florida for a global engineering/architectural firm.
Mary is an alumnus of both Palm Beach Atlantic University and Florida State University where she received an MPA. She is proud to engage civically and philanthropically in the FL and DC markets previously serving as President of the Federal Real Property Association, board member of the Rotary Club of Washington and Foundation, Audit chair for The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts, Chair of the Performance Management Committee for AGA, Board member of Operation New Hope, Jax Chamber, and as a member of both the Junior Leagues of Washington and Jacksonville and the Exchequer Club.
