2024 Elections

2024 General Election

Three of seven Duval County School Board seats were up for election in 2024. JPEF provided voters with information regarding the candidates and issues impacting public education in Jacksonville.

Candidates completed questionnaires, and several participated in community-wide forums that gave voters the opportunity to learn more about the candidates and their viewpoints.

In addition, JPEF provided information on Amendment 1, a proposed constitutional amendment to change school board elections to partisan elections.

Election Results

In the primary election on August 20, Tony Ricardo received the majority of votes to become the District 1 School Board member; incumbent District 5 board member Cindy Pearson was re-elected; Melody Buldoc won the District 7 seat; and Hank Rogers and Reggie Blount were sent to a run-off election on Nov. 5.

In the Nov. 5 General Election, Blount won the District 5 school board seat, and Florida voters turned down Amendment 1, voting to keep school board races nonpartisan.
