Duval County is Stronger Because of Teachers

Duval County is Stronger Because of Teachers

Duval County teachers are a cornerstone of our community. Every day, they do far more than teach lessons—they shape futures, lift families, and invest deeply in the whole child.

My appreciation for educators started early. My mom retired from teaching in Duval County, and the care and dedication she showed her students left a lasting impression on me. She believed in teaching and caring for the whole student—academically, emotionally, and personally. She was the first teacher who truly inspired me and showed me how engagement and compassion can completely change the learning environment.

Today, through my work with JPEF, I continue to see that same commitment in action. Each year, I meet incredible Duval County educators who teach the whole child in ways that extend far beyond the classroom. The daily work of instruction is only part of the story. These teachers attend students’ after‑school events, partner closely with parents and families, and engage with the broader community to ensure their students are supported throughout the entire day—and beyond.

Duval County is stronger because of its teachers. Their impact reaches generations, and I’m grateful to know—and learn from—so many who lead with heart, purpose, and unwavering dedication.
