2016 Florida Standards Assessment scores released

Results from the 2016 administration of the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) — the second ever administration of the test — as well as end of course exams are out today, and they show some gains both statewide and locally.
The Florida Standard Assessment, which was introduced for the first time last year, measures student and school performance on the new Florida Standards in math and English Language Arts.
The results showed that students in grades 3-8 are performing better in math, especially in Duval County. State-wide, the percent of students scoring at or above grade level in math was increased one percentage point to 57 percent. In Duval, that gain was three percentage points, to 53 percent.
Algebra 1, Biology 1, and U.S. History scores showed particularly high improvement here in Duval County.
In English Language Arts (ELA), the overall results for grades 3-10 were flat state-wide and declined by one percentage point in Duval County.
