Celebrating Black History Month

The Jacksonville Public Education Fund is honored to work with community trustees who work on behalf of ensuring all children receive a high-quality public education. We'd like to take the time to celebrate Black History Month by spotlighting one of our board members, Cleve Warren, who is featured in Jacksonville's 2014 Black History Calendar, themed "Civil Rights in America" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Mr. Warren is a noted civic, business and community leader in Jacksonville, Florida. He currently serves on the board of directors of several civic, philanthropic and community organizations. Mr. Warren is Co-Chair of the acclaimed Urban Education Symposium: Reclaiming Young Black Males for Jacksonville's Future.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IV led to the desegregation of schools that affected public education in the nation. The 2014 Black History Calendar is sponsored by the Jacksonville Area Burger King Restaurants, Florida State College at Jacksonville, First Coast News, the Jacksonville Public Library, and the James Weldon Johnson Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Cleve's biography and his thoughts about the pivotal moment in public education are featured on the December 2014 page.
Throughout the calendar, Duval County public school students share their future aspirations and thoughts about the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Other notable African American community leaders featured in the calendar includes Duval County School Board representatives, Paula D. Wright and Dr. Constance Hall.
