Celebrating the 2015 Very Special Arts Festival

5/22/2015

More than 1,800 children with disabilities benefitted from the Very Special Arts (VSA) Festival hosted by the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens during almost a full week in May.

For many of the children that attended the VSA Festival, it may be the only opportunity they have to go to a museum and explore art exhibitions. They also had the opportunity to create art pieces themselves. The Festival is possible with the support and help of more than 1,300 volunteers that each year fill the museum with a very special energy.

I had the opportunity to attend the festival this year and I was greatly impressed to see how transformative this experience is not only for the children who attend but also for the thousands of volunteers and visitors who had the opportunity to participate.

Kudos to Hope McMath and her full team for organizing an incredible event!
