Sergey Karayev, Berkeley Computer Science PhD and Head of AI for Turnitin.com, spoke at the ASU-GSV Summit Conference and spoke about the future of Ed Tech. When asked what 10-15 years looks like, he spoke plainly, essentially saying: In the future, there will only be two types of people: those who absorb UBI and entrepreneurs who fully utilize artificial general and super intelligence and robotics.

The Cindy Edelman Excellence in Teaching Fellowship is an unprecedented opportunity for K-12 Duval County public school teachers to elevate their teaching careers through a professional development activity of their choosing. We asked Marissa Hein, who recently got back from her trip Malta, a few questions about the experience.

Thirteen Duval County public school teachers will be embarking on the professional learning experience of their dreams and bringing what they learn back to their classrooms, thanks to the Cindy Edelman Excellence in Teaching Fellowship. Supported by an endowed fund housed at The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida and administered by the JPEF, the fellowship provides opportunities for teachers to develop their own professional learning opportunities to enhance their classroom teaching and benefit their school community

Modern fine dining is almost synonymous with French cooking techniques: The foams, gels, dots, dashes, flowers and flourishes, the braise, broil, and saute. Arising out of the genius of August Escoffier, the French brigade system simplified each aspect of kitchen work down to the core functions with each section led by a distinguished and capable leader.

A recent study from Germany reveals just how powerful access to reading materials can be for children from low-income families. The study gave 11-12-year-olds from disadvantaged households an e-book reader, providing them with access to a digital library of over 1,000 age-appropriate books.

But there is something you don’t see that can have a big impact on learning: the heating and cooling system. 

Monique Stewart is a dynamic and results-oriented professional with extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership development, and community engagement. In her most recent role, she served as the Director of Partnerships & Community Outreach at Duval County Public Schools, successfully leading the development of long-term strategic plans that align with district-wide goals, resulting in significant increases in team efficiency and project success rates.

Vincent Taylor, a math interventionist at Cedar Hills Elementary School and author of the popular “Cornbread” series of children’s books, was named the 2025 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year at the 34^th Annual EDDY Awards on Saturday, January 18th. Taylor, a teacher with 27 years of classroom experience, was selected from nearly 180 Teachers of the Year by a committee of volunteers.

The five finalists for Duval County Teacher of the Year have been announced. One of the finalists will be named the 2025 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year at the EDDY Awards on Jan. 18. Learn more about the finalists and how you can attend the EDDY Awards.
