Gallup Student Poll Results

The Gallup Student Poll, a 20-question survey administered to students in 5th through 12th grade, measures the socio-emotional factors of hope, engagement, and well-being, which have been shown to impact students’ grades, academic achievement, retention, and future employment success.
The survey is web-based and administered in the fall of each school year. The results are meant for teachers, administrators, and education stakeholders to use to cultivate dialogue and to drive improvements at both the school and district-level.
Gallup Student Poll Results
The mean results from the 2014-2015 school year below show how students rated the three main categories of hope, engagement and well-being.
- Hope: 4.34 out of 5
- Engagement: 3.77 out of 5
- Well-Being: 8.55 out of 10
All three categories at the district level showed a slight increase in the 2014-2015 administration of the poll.

School-Level Results
The visualization below shows the school-level results from the Gallup Student Poll administered in Duval County Public Schools in the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. Connection to June Community Forum
The Gallup Student Poll serves as additional context for the ONE by ONE Community Forum: The Role of Mental Health in Powering Students' Potential, which took place on June 30th where over 70 community members came together to discuss mental health issues and the impact they have on students in Duval County. The results of the Gallup Student Poll featured in the visualization below add to the key indicators from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), which were presented at the forum. These two data sources illustrate that mental health issues affect more than just the academic performance of our students, but their social-emotional well-being as well.
