Resolve to get involved in public education — here's how!

1/2/2013

Happy New Year! We hope that students, parents and teachers had a restful winter break, as 2013 promises to be a busy and exciting time in public education.

Will you pledge to start this new year by getting involved? Our schools and our community needs YOU to take an active role in insisting on high-quality public schools for all children.

Here are some quick ways to start:

> Share School Facts Jax with a friend or neighbor. Arm yourself and your community with the most accurate information! Start here to explore information about every public school in Duval County. Then, e-mail the link to someone you know - this data belongs to us all.

> Volunteer with children in Duval County schools. Make a difference in the life of a student by mentoring or volunteering in the schools. With so many programs to choose from, there are opportunities that fit almost every schedule and lifestyle. Get started here.

> Attend a town hall meeting with Superintendent Vitti this month. The superintendent is continuing to hold a meeting with each school board member in their district, and he's depending on you to make your voice heard. Share your thoughts at any one of the following meetings (or attend all of them!):
