Rotary Club of Deerwood honors Teachers of the Year

The Rotary Club of Deerwood learned about public schools from Duval County Teacher of the Year Joseph Frencl and four of his fellow honorees at its breakfast meeting in mid May.
Frencl teaches AP Calculus at Atlantic Coast High School, where he led his students to a 98 percent pass rate on the AP Calculus exam last year, and has a lifetime average of more than 90 percent of his students passing the exam.
Also honored were Iris Caro of Central Riverside Elementary, Amanda Dyal of Southside Middle, Jessica von Eiff of Westview K-8 and Carol Wright of Mt. Herman Exceptional Center.
The Deerwood Rotary Club has led the effort to raise funds for the EDDY Teacher of the Year awards ceremony from all of the Rotary Clubs in Jacksonville for many years, and is the largest civic group contributor to the EDDY Awards program.
