Teacher of the Year semi-finalists announced!

Every year, the Jacksonville Public Education Fund and the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership join together to honor Duval County's best teachers at the EDDY Awards.
The Duval County Teacher of the Year selection process began at the school level in September when Teachers of the Year were selected by their school community to represent their school. The 163 school Teachers of the Year complete an extensive packet outlining their teaching philosophy, professional development activities, leadership roles, and student achievement data. The Teachers of the Year are then narrowed to fifteen semi-finalists based on reviews of their packets and classroom visits.
The fifteen semi-finalists for the 2012 Florida Blue Teacher of the Year have been named:
Katherine Altom: Woodland Acres Elementary
Regan Ashker: Andrew Jackson High
Chris Bacca: Windy Hill Elementary
Dana Bass: Kernan Middle
Christy J. Constande: Chets Creek Elementary
Nicole Corbitt: Chaffee Trail Elementary
Cindy Fitch: Oak Hill Elementary
Andrea Harter: Robert E. Lee High
Kate Houston: First Coast High
Heather Keiser: Fishweir Elementary
Stephanie Kemmerer: Fletcher High
Lauren Martin: Pinedale Elementary
Josh Nelson: Annie R. Morgan Elementary
Scott Sowell: Darnell Cookman Middle/Senior
Matthew Take: Mount Herman Exceptional Center
All of these semi-finalists will be interviewed by the District Selection Committee, which will then narrow the field to five finalists.
The 2012 Duval County Teacher of the Year will be announced at the EDDY Awards on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. The EDDY Awards are hosted by the Jacksonville Public Education Fund and the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership. The Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year will then go on to compete for the state-wide title.
