About Bryan Susman
Bryan Susman serves the Jacksonville Public Education Funds as a Teach For America Leadership Fellow for this summer. His project surveys local and national best practices regarding effective partnerships among schools, colleges, non-profits, businesses, and families. Bryan is an honors graduate from the University of Southern California, where he studied Comparative Literature, Neuroscience and Jazz Studies. Upon graduating from USC, Bryan moved to rural Arkansas to serve as a 2010 Teach for America Corps Member, and for the past five years, has served in various public school capacities as a music teacher. Bryan’s passion centers on creating curriculums for his students that align music with cultural empowerment, social justice, and social activism. In his free time, Bryan plays the saxophone, travels, and visits nature.
In Bryan's words...
I am excited to learn about how JPEF leverages the insights and energy of the community for the benefit of Jacksonville’s students. Constructivism is an idea I find fascinating and I’m passionate about, and seeing how it plays out with JPEF’s help will be a rewarding experience.
I move public education forward by nurturing a love for music, culture, and justice in my students.
