About the EDDY Awards 

The EDDY Awards is an annual event to celebrate Duval County's leading teachers. It is a time-honored tradition that has grown into its new mission to elevate the role of Jacksonville's best teachers. Each year, we celebrate each school's Teacher of the Year and announce the winner of the VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations to the 2022 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year, Charles Darwin Magdaluyo!

The Jacksonville Public Education Fund is proud to announce the 2022 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year!

Charles Darwin Magdaluyo, a human anatomy and physiology teacher at Jean Ribault High School, was named the 2022 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year at the 31st Annual EDDY Awards. Magdaluyo, who has taught at Ribault High for three years, was selected from among 180 Teachers of the Year by a committee of volunteers.

Magdaluyo has been teaching for seven years and is a training facilitator for human anatomy teachers in the district and a mentor to other science teachers. In addition, Magdaluyo, a native of the Philippines, initiated professional learning communities for other international teachers to familiarize them with teaching in Duval County.

Meet the 5 finalists for 2022 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year!

The Jacksonville Public Education Fund is proud to announce the top five finalists for the 2022 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year.

The finalists were chosen by a community selection committee that reviewed their applications, conducted interviews and watched footage of their instruction in the classroom or online. One of the five finalists will be announced as winner of the county-wide honor live on WJXT/Channel 4.

The EDDY Awards: Live from Jacksonville! TV Special airs on January 22, 2022 at 8 PM on WJXT/Channel 4 and streams on news4jax.com and News4JAX+.  

The EDDY Awards gala will take place simultaneously on January 22.

Meet the 2022 semi-finalists for VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year!

 

The Jacksonville Public Education Fund is proud to announce the 15 semi-finalists for the 2022 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year. 

The teachers will go on to be considered as finalists for the county’s top teaching honor and all 15 will participate in JPEF’s Teacher Leadership Initiative, a professional learning community that connects teacher leaders with best practices in equity and school quality. JPEF is proud to continue its partnership with VyStar Credit Union as the title sponsor for the county’s top teaching honor.

The Jacksonville Public Education Fund is honored to once again lead the community-driven process to select the VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year and to celebrate every outstanding Teacher of the Year in public schools across the district. It has never been more important to celebrate the heroes in our classrooms!
